Tag filters, scan issue tracking, and full STEP support

Meshory v1.7.0 · Aug 23, 2026 · 12 changes
New
  • Tag filtering and folder tags.

You can now tag files and folders, search and filter your library with tag chips or a tag: token, and tag a folder so its files inherit that tag automatically. Inherited tags are shown separately from ones you add directly, and tag counts now include archives as well as individual files.

  • Scan issue tracking and retries.

Meshory now keeps a record of problems found while scanning your library, shows them in the sidebar and settings, and lets you retry, ignore, or restore each one. This includes flagging archives that failed to read, including encrypted entries, with a more specific reason such as 7-Zip's error output.

  • AI tagging run console.

A new console tails an AI tagging run as it happens, names the files it failed on with the reason, and lets you filter to just the errors or just the slow requests. The run's own controls sit on the source running it: pause, stop, and resume, alongside a tag, describe and index pipeline where you can skip a step you don't want.

  • Full STEP and STP support.

STEP and STP were already indexed and searchable, but there was nothing to recognise them by in the grid and nothing to look at when you opened one. Meshory now generates and caches thumbnails for them, including ones found inside archives, and opens them in the 3D viewer. Files already in your library are backfilled without a rescan, a queued status shows instead of silence while they render, and previews skipped for being too large are flagged with a badge rather than failing quietly.

  • Per-source activity.

Each library source now names the job it is running, with its own progress and its own control, and reports every job it runs instead of only the first. Sources also count their previews separately, and you can clear a finished run's progress from the keyboard.

Improved
  • Duplicate detection performance.

Comparing files for duplicates now runs in the background without freezing the app, saves its progress so it can resume after an interruption, and shows an estimate of how much work remains.

Fixed
  • Archive search with filters.

Searching for a model inside an archive now finds the archive even when an active filter hides the model itself.

  • Dropbox folder detection.

Dropbox folders are now correctly recognized as cloud storage instead of local ones.

  • Archive re-indexing.

An archive that gets rewritten in place, for example re-saved by another app, is now re-indexed instead of showing stale contents.

  • Thumbnail failure blame.

A temporary hiccup while generating a thumbnail no longer marks the file itself as broken.

  • Metadata retry budget.

A shared analysis failure no longer uses up a file's own chance to be retried.

  • Excluded folders after a sweep.

Folders you had excluded from scanning could quietly come back after a full library sweep; they now stay excluded.
