Folder duplicates, preview controls, and tag management
Meshory v1.8.0 · Sep 2, 2026 · 34 changesFolder duplicate detection.
Meshory now finds entire duplicate folders, not just duplicate files, recommends which copy to keep, shows what a comparison couldn't check, and lets you filter, sort, and trash duplicates directly from folder cards.
Preview generation settings.
Preview generation, under Settings → Scanning, decides when rendering happens. As you browse renders cards as they scroll into view and keeps the drive quiet. All upfront renders every new model after each scan, so no card is a placeholder by the time you reach it; on a big library that takes hours, and you can pause or stop it from the sidebar. A source's ⋯ menu can generate missing thumbnails on demand, with progress shown per source. The setup wizard walks new installs through both preview choices.
Preview pictures.
A second choice under Settings → Scanning decides what a card shows. Original pictures uses the cover saved inside the file, or a photo sitting next to it in the folder, and falls back to Meshory's render when there is neither. 3D previews always uses the render. Existing installs stay on 3D previews until you switch. A folder's photos also appear under their own heading in the Change thumbnail picker.
Offline source banner.
When a library source is offline, a banner appears with a Recheck button, and thumbnails from that source show a tooltip explaining why they can't be generated.
Tags you can take back.
Select files and open the tag picker: it now leads with every tag the selection carries, whatever put it there, and each row has a Remove button that takes the tag off exactly the files that have it. Remove all tags strips the whole selection and says first how many tags on how many files. Rule-based tags return on a rescan or re-apply, and there is no undo.
Automatic tagging switch.
Automatic tagging has its own switch in Settings → Scanning, with the option to remove the tags it already applied when you turn it off. A source's ⋯ menu gained Re-apply auto-tags, and a plain Rescan replays the rules as well.
Rescan from scratch.
A source's ⋯ menu offers Rescan from scratch, behind a confirmation. Every file is re-read rather than just what changed: archive contents are re-indexed, 3MF colors and slicer metadata re-derived, and automatic tags re-applied. Your own tags, notes, collections and thumbnails are kept.
Trash whole folders.
Delete an entire folder and its contents from the grid or from a multi-select, and Meshory removes the empty folder once its files are gone.
Scan hidden dot-files.
A new setting lets Meshory include dot-prefixed files and folders when scanning your library, and changing it triggers an automatic rescan.
Direct STEP mesh reading.
STEP files that were already converted to mesh data can now be read directly, skipping the usual conversion step.
Incomplete archive listings.
Meshory now flags archives whose stored file listing is incomplete and automatically rechecks ones that were indexed before this tracking existed.
Archive covers for oversized STL zips.
Meshory can now generate a cover image for an archive whose only model is a zipped STL over the usual size cap.
Wider tag catalogue.
Thirty tags beyond tabletop naming: part types such as bracket, holder, mount and hinge, print-in-place, materials such as TPU and PETG, vase mode and fuzzy skin. Files already in your library pick them up on the next launch when automatic tagging is on.
Faster launch.
Meshory now starts about 180ms faster.
License settings redesign.
The License panel in Settings has a refreshed design, accurate previews, and now shows your real trial status.
Empty library screen.
The empty-library screen is tidier, and its thumbnail action is simpler to use.
Tag counts match the view.
The number beside each tag in the picker counts the models in the folder or search you are looking at rather than the whole library, and a ticked tag shows its own reach in that view.
Discord invite.
The Help menu's Discord item opens the invite directly. The join flow that asked Discord for permission to join servers on your behalf is gone.
Archive preview covers.
Covers can now be generated from archive entries up to 64 MB, archives with nothing to preview are shown as informational rather than failed, and clearer messages appear when a cover can't be made.
Stuck duplicate comparison.
The "What differs" comparison no longer gets stuck on "Checking…" indefinitely.
Inaccurate no-data-loss promise.
Meshory no longer claims a duplicate cleanup loses nothing when it actually would.
Duplicate selection with a locked keeper.
You can now select the last remaining copy, and see the recommended option, when the keeper is locked.
STEP conversion timeouts.
The time allowed to convert a STEP file now scales with the file itself instead of always cutting off at 120 seconds.
STEP conversion crashes.
Meshory now recovers from failed STEP tessellation attempts instead of marking the file as damaged.
STEP previews of the wrong part.
Small STEP files could reach the converter with unrelated bytes attached, so a thumbnail occasionally showed a different part than the file contains. The converter now receives exactly the file's bytes.
Mismatched boot screen.
The boot screen no longer shows text that didn't match the loading animation.
Library scroll position.
Your scroll position in the library view is now restored when you navigate back to it.
Unnecessary scan notifications.
Meshory no longer shows a toast for scan outcomes that don't need your attention, including during the first scan.
False extraction errors.
Cancelling an extraction no longer gets logged as an error.
Page width shift.
The page no longer changes width when a filter removes the scrollbar.
Tag filters returned nothing.
Filtering by a tag came back empty when the tagged models lived inside folders, while the picker promised hundreds. A tag filter now searches the whole scope you are in, the way a search does.
Tag-generation pause survives a relaunch.
Pausing tag generation on a source used to resume silently at the next launch. The pause is saved now.
Repeated pictures in folder collages.
With Original pictures on, a folder's preview collage could show the same photo twice: once for the photo itself and once for the model that adopted it.
Setup wizard on laptop screens.
The wizard's card steps fit a laptop-sized window.
