Renaming files & folders

Rename a model or folder on disk from inside Meshory. Tags, notes, and thumbnails follow the new name.

Right-click any model or folder, in the grid or the folder tree, and choose Rename. Meshory renames the real file or folder on disk, and because the library entry is updated in the same step, its tags, notes, collections, and thumbnails all carry over. Renaming a folder updates everything inside it too.

The guardrails

• Names are validated for every platform your library touches: characters and names that would break on Windows or on a NAS share are refused up front, wherever you're typing.
• A rename never overwrites another file. If the new name is already taken, Meshory refuses and tells you, instead of silently replacing what's there.
• While a source is mid-scan, renaming inside it is held off. Try again once the scan settles.
• Models inside ZIP, RAR or 7Z archives can't be renamed individually; rename the archive itself instead. The source folders you added as roots also keep their names, since Meshory is watching them at that path.
