Moving the thumbnail cache

Updated Jul 28, 2026 · 1 min read

Thumbnails live in a local cache you can relocate, handy when your library is huge or your system drive is small.

Rendered thumbnails are stored in a cache on your machine, separate from your model files. On a large library that cache can grow, so Meshory lets you move it, for example onto a roomier drive if your system disk is tight.

Point the thumbnail cache at a new folder from the Storage section in Settings and Meshory migrates the existing thumbnails for you: they carry over, and new renders go to the new location. The same section shows the cache's current size and file count, and can reset it back to the default location. The one restriction: the cache can't be moved while a scan is running.

The cache is fully regenerable. If it's ever cleared or lost, Meshory simply re-renders thumbnails from your models. You never lose anything irreplaceable.
