What data is sent (and what isn't)

Tagging sends text metadata, plus thumbnails only if you switch that on, to the AI provider you picked. Your model files are never uploaded.

This is the important one, so it's explicit. AI tagging only does anything when you've set up a provider and started it. When it runs, here's exactly what moves:

• Sent: the file's name, its folder path within your source, and its existing tags, plus the prompt, straight from your computer to the provider you picked. That's OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic or Google with your own key, or OpenAI under your ChatGPT account and its data controls when you use the Codex CLI, which also passes along your Codex instructions from ~/.codex/AGENTS.md.
• Kept on your computer with Ollama: Meshory only talks to the Ollama server running on this computer.
• Sent only if you've enabled it: with “Include thumbnails in prompts” switched on (it's off by default), a small copy of the rendered thumbnail image goes along too.
• Not sent: your actual model files. No STL, 3MF, OBJ or other model file leaves your machine; no code path uploads them.

Everything else lives on your machine: your library, index, thumbnails, tags, and notes. Beyond AI tagging, the app touches the network for four things: license activation (a quick check when you first enter your key, refreshed quietly every so often), checking for app updates, usage and crash reporting, and looking up MakerWorld account names. Crash and usage reporting is anonymous and strictly allowlisted: event names, coarse buckets like a model-count range, and version/OS info only. When it's on, activating or renewing your license also sends your app version and exact library size, which are stored against your license. File names, paths, and search terms are never valid fields, and you can switch it off in Settings → Privacy.

The MakerWorld lookup runs when you open Details for a 3MF saved by a MakerWorld account you haven't named. Meshory asks Bambu Lab's public profile API (api.bambulab.com) for that account's public name and offers it as a suggestion. Bambu Lab receives the account number and, like any web request, your IP address, never your files or their names, and Meshory keeps the answer for 30 days. It's on by default; turn off Look up MakerWorld account names in Settings → Privacy to stop it.

Semantic search, when you use it, goes through your own OpenRouter key, whichever provider writes your tags: it sends each model's file name, folder path, tags, AI description and the names of files inside archives to build its index, and your search terms each time you search. Tagging and semantic search both go through your own provider account, never a Meshory server.
