Adding your own tags

Updated Sep 3, 2026 · 2 min read

Tag a model yourself from the right-click menu, the details panel, or a whole selection at once, and take any tag off again.

Meshory generates tags for you, but you never have to accept its vocabulary. A tag you add yourself is a first-class tag: it filters and searches exactly like a generated one, it applies the moment you add it without waiting for a pass to run, and a later AI or filename pass never overwrites it.

Three places to tag

The picker opens on your recent tags, ordered by when you last used each one, then by how often you use it, then alphabetically, so repeat tagging is usually one keystroke and Enter. Type to filter the list; if the name doesn't exist yet, a Create option appears and you can pick the tag's color before assigning it. Choosing a tag a model already has takes it off again.

Taking tags off

Select the files and open the picker, and it leads with every tag the selection carries, whatever put it there: yours, the rule-based ones, the AI ones, and the ones inherited from a folder. Each of those rows has a Remove button that takes the tag off exactly the files that have it. Below the list, Remove all tags strips the whole selection at once, and tells you first how many tags on how many files it is about to remove. A tag that came from a folder stops coming back, and a folder left with no tagged files loses the tag too.

There is no undo. And rule-based tags return the next time you rescan or re-apply automatic tagging, because that is what those actions do. If you want them gone for good, turn automatic tagging off first.

Tags describe a model wherever it lives. For a group you curate by hand instead, use a collection: see Collections vs. tags.
