Moving the thumbnail cache
Updated Oct 11, 2026 · 1 min read
Thumbnails live in a local cache you can relocate, handy when your library is huge or your system drive is small.
Rendered thumbnails are stored in a cache on your machine, separate from your model files. On a large library that cache can grow, so Meshory lets you move it, for example onto a roomier drive if your system disk is tight.
Point Cache location, in Settings → Storage, at a new folder and Meshory migrates the existing thumbnails for you: they carry over, and new renders go to the new location. The same section shows the cache's current size and file count, and can reset it back to the default location.
If a scan is running when you choose a new location, Meshory asks Stop scanning to move the cache? first. Keep scanning leaves everything as it was. Stop scan and choose folder… stops the scan, lets you pick the new folder, and starts scanning again once the move is done.
The cache is fully regenerable. If it's ever cleared or lost, Meshory simply re-renders thumbnails from your models. You never lose anything irreplaceable.
